The Importance of Education and Why It Should Matter To You
Happy First Friday y'all! Hope you have been enjoying my blog thus far, I appreciate all the feedback and responses I've been receiving.
Education means a) the act or process of educating; instruction; b) the science of teaching; pedagogy. Meanwhile, school is an organization that provides instruction. After knowing this we can agree that education is the process of learning and school is the setting of where learning takes place.
Today, the education system has changed and the learning experience has gone from the classroom to outside the classroom. So what I want for you to do for now is to distinguish education and school.
Education exists in every setting that we come across in our lives and not just in school. For example, the workplace. Most jobs require training to enhance the knowledge, skills, and requirements for individuals to perform. As an employee you are learning new stuff to keep you competent in your current position. A salesperson's job is just not only about selling the product or service but much rather to educate the customer about the product or service.
What I want to encourage you today is to utilize every experience as a learning experience regardless of your current job or if you have a degree or not. (In reality, it really is just a piece of paper that states you fulfilled the requirements needed to become such and such. No offense to my teacher friends.) I look forward everyday to learning something new, whether it be business related or personally. I am a firm believer that your education never ends and the greatest asset you can have is knowledge. Education to me is about learning experiences and to stay informed about certain topics of your interest. Regardless, it does not matter where you get educated from it can be on the streets, at home, at church or the people you surround yourself with. You always have to be open to what you are being exposed to because you might miss the opportunity to gain insight on something you were not familiar with to begin with.
