There's No "I" In Team

Who's ready for the Super Bowl this weekend? I am sure everyone is excited for the parties, half time performance but MOST of all the funny commercials. I always look forward to the commercials as well, maybe it's because I love marketing so much.

Anyways, this week's topic is "There's No "I" In Team." As cliche this may seem, it holds up to be very true in our everyday lives.

Football is one of my passions, I loved playing the game growing up but most of all the principles I learned from playing the game. Had it not been for football I probably would have been a troubled kid growing up but thank God for blessing me with the ability to play. The principles I adopted were determination, discipline, leadership, respect but most importantly TEAMWORK. All these principles have impacted my life so much that I still hold true to them even in my professional career and the way I do business on a daily basis.

What does teamwork mean to you? Teamwork means to me, when a group of individuals come together as one and work towards accomplishing a goal.

Fortunately, I have been blessed to have been part of many teamwork experiences. Most notably, I helped lead my high school football team to it's first playoff berth in school history (our record still stands as the best), I helped start a fraternity in college, I helped a family friend run an Art business while in college, and most recently I have helped my family start a Real Estate business.

The most important thing I have learned from all of these experiences is that you must work together day in and day out to get things done. Communication is key and holding everyone accountable for their role on the team is very crucial.

I spend an hour with God every morning when I wake up, this year I was given Tony Dungy's 365 day devotional "Uncommon Life". Today's reading was about Super Bowl MVP's, but what he explained was how important it was for their teammates to help them receive the award. He mentioned Peyton Manning when he won the MVP award as part of the Indianapolis Colts, but Dungy mentions how important the roles of the offensive linemen meant to Manning.

Peyton has another opportunity to win a championship with a different franchise team and would be the first to accomplish this achievement. Notice though how he not only carries himself but his teammates throughout the entire season. He has done this his entire career and I tip my cap (I don't wear cowboy hats even though I'm from Texas.) off to him for being such a great example of a class-act leader.

Remember that we are involved with teamwork every day at home, at the workplace, and even in our relationships. We must all come together as one in order to progress in life.

So get your popcorn ready and enjoy the Super Bowl. Have a great weekend and God bless y'all. Cheers!

 P.S.
I am huge music junkie, here's a favorite jam of mine. Enjoy :)
