Dreams...
I figured since MLK Day was this past Monday, that this would be a great topic to discuss this week.
Why do we dream? What do we dream of?
I have always wondered what the significance of dreaming was. Lately, I have been spending a lot of time with God and I have learned that dreams is one way He communicates with us. For instance, this morning I read Genesis 40, this is about when Joseph interprets two dreams to a cup-bearer and a baker. They told Joseph about their dreams and Joseph told them the significance behind them. If you get a chance read it, pretty great story. I thought waking up and reading this today was pretty cool to share since this week's topic is about dreams.
I believe we dream because it gives us hope and inspiration from within us to go out do something significant with our life. Whatever it may be, its what keeps us going because we want to achieve something in our lifetime that we will be remembered for during our time here on Earth.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we all are familiar with his famous "I have a Dream," speech. The man not only expressed it in his speech, he lived it everyday while he was here on Earth. He wasn't always successful through the process of the civil rights movement, it took time for society to accept this change. He did not quit because he wanted to see his dream come true. Sadly, he was assassinated but what resulted out of it was what he fought for his entire life became a reality.
Dreams can mean lots of things to us. It can mean that we want a lavish lifestyle with all the good things in life that come with it or simply just having a family can be a dream for some of us. Some of us say that my dream is to blah, blah, blah but yet are not doing anything towards their dream to achieve it. Remember, we only live once (cliche) what are you doing today that is moving you towards your dream. Figure out what you should be doing instead of watching TV, procrastinating, etc. I understand that we all have priorities and things can get in the way of our life, but other than that there should be no exceptions or excuses that should keep you from following your dreams. I am not saying not to enjoy your life everyday, but do the things in life that matter most to you.
Have a great weekend. Cheers!
